Maternity

Planning your Pregnancy

If you’re planning on getting pregnant, you can improve your chances of conceiving and having a successful pregnancy. Follow these steps

NHS NICE Pregnancy and Maternity Care

NHS NICE Guidelines advise that all women are entitled to NHS maternity care, throughout their pregnancies, birth, and post birth.

An initial meeting with a midwife is advised at 8 – 10 weeks of your pregnancy, please arrange this directly with the Practice.

This appointment usually takes 1 – 1:20 hours, to enable discussion around healthy lifestyle in pregnancy and to complete a comprehensive history of your medical records, baseline observations and blood tests. You will also receive your pregnancy hand-held notes, exemption certificate for NHS dental care/prescriptions and a referral for an ultrasound scan will be made, if wanted.

The midwife will also explain the maternity care pathway.

Should English not be your first language, we will provide an interpreter, using “language line”.

I look forward to meeting you! – Natalie, Midwife
