Prescriptions Order your repeat prescriptions or find a pharmacy...

Our patient services team are not clinical members of staff and therefore do not have any pharmaceutical training. Ensuring that requests are received in writing prevents errors in issuing medications which may be extremely dangerous.

From April 2021, guidance from NHS England was that practices only accept written requests for prescriptions or repeat medication requests via the NHS app. During the pandemic, many practices including Gosford Hill relaxed this guidance so that patients did not have to leave their homes unnecessarily, however there is no longer the need for this isolation, and we must ensure that patient safety is put first.

Ordering Prescriptions

Prescriptions can be ordered in the following way:

  • Online via the NHS app
  • By filling out a repeat prescription request slip in the waiting room and handing it to the patient services team.
  • By completing your repeat prescription slip given to you when collecting your medication and bringing that to the surgery (putting through the letter box if we are closed).
  • By contacting your pharmacy and asking them to request your medication in writing on your behalf.

This does not alter the turnaround time for prescriptions, you should always allow two working-days between ordering and collecting your medication. We will contact patients where there is an issue with a request, however due to the volume of prescriptions we receive, we cannot respond to all routine requests.
